Farewell My Concubine and the tragic story of Leslie Cheung

I already loved Leslie Cheung the moment I found out he was brave enough to come out as bisexual and date a man in a time at which Hong Kong was not a very LGBT-friendly place. But when I finally watched Farewell My Concubine, my heart was won over, not only because of his stunning performance, but because of the parallels between the story of Farewell My Concubine and Leslie Cheung’s own tragic story. Rest in Peace Leslie.
